“The Journey continues.”
With the publication of this on-line version of Canterbury Tales it puts a full stop for this year anyway on 2024. Students have left the building for summer with beaming faces whilst others have left with a tear in their eye. It is a short time at this kura but one overflowing with learning, tall stories, laughter, competition and many moments of joy and sadness.
Brother Bill’s passing this year teaches us that ones’ life is what you put into it. Bill was a “relationship man” who fully embodied the values of the college: Brotherhood, Manawa, Compassion and Legacy. It has been an honour to have met Bill and had the chance to have him laugh at my stories and for me to experience his listening presence. May he rest in peace.
2025 will see a new cohort of eager students ready to place their mark on the history of STC. This magazine is drawn from different medias reporting our successes, many videos that capture the boundless energy of students competing, photos and words that add to this year’s paper version of The Canterbury Tales 2024.
What I like about this on-line version is the ability to add video and see the written word come to life in speeches, the energy of song and drama as well as the talent and passion in haka and music. Persevere with the video as it will take you to genuine you tube links – at times you may need to try it twice as there is a “glitch” that repeats the last video at times. Technology … unreliable!
I am definitely glad to be still a part of the fabric and tapestry of St Thomas’. Roll on 2025 and whatever challenges it will bring. Enjoy this magazine and remember that what you add to St Thomas makes STC what it is.
Cheers, Biggsie.
