Term Three … St Thomas’ jumped into a few buses to make our way down to Roncalli College for our annual sports exchange. We took down 1st XV Rugby, 1st V Basketball, 1st XI Football, Senior Debating, U15 Rugby, Junior 1st V Basketball, Junior 1st XI Football, and Junior Debating.
STC were off to a great start for the 1st XV Rugby leading 24-0 at halftime, however Roncalli woke up and dominated the early period of the 2nd half pulling the score back to 24-17. STC stuck to their processes and were rewarded with consecutive tries to finish the game with 43 points to Roncalli’s 31.

Goal Keeper, Angus Dempster, will be happy with his work.
An exciting team with a big future.
Our senior side left a number of players at home, which meant several others had the chance to start. This also created a very exciting opportunity for Year 9’s Lewis Partridge, Alex Ballard, George Campbell and Memphis Vaszilyko to make their debuts for the First X1.
The final score was 4-1 to St Thomas.
Jake Charlton scored his maiden goal for STC. Tom Downes, Callum Murdoch and Seth Simpson scored the others.
The 1st V Basketball team fought out a tough win over Roncalli, picking up four injuries during the game tested our depth, but eventually held on for a low scoring 44-37 win! Quinn Lavery leading the way with 13 points.
With probably the biggest win of the exchange, our Junior 1st V basketball with another dominant performance in their build up to South Island, Senior 1st V Players Tanae Lavery, Tautahi Briggs, and Zavier Harema were too good for Roncalli juniors leading us to an 95-29 win!
Both our debating teams wrapped up the exchange with two convincing arguments to secure the exchange for STC.
