Winter Tournament Week was hugely successful for St Thomas’ as we battled against other schools at a National level. As mentioned last week, we were crowned South Island Junior Basketball Champions and our senior team travelled to Invercargill (with a number of our juniors!) and finished a credible 17th. Our 1st XI Footballers had a tough start but finished strongly in 18th. Once again, the 1st XIII Rugby League team competed extremely well and challenged Top 3 teams to eventually finish in 7th. Congratulations to all our players, coaches and managers on competing with true Manawa spirit.

A wonderful trip to St Kevin’s in Oamaru on Wednesday with blue skies and warm sunshine. As with the Roncalli exchange, we were successful winning six of the fixtures including the 1st XV, the first victory by the away team in a number of years. Our footballers once again dominated proceedings and were able to introduce some juniors to 1st XI Football.

Finally, a reminder that our annual Sports Awards are just around the corner. Please make sure you buy your tickets early for what will be a fantastic celebration of sport at St Thomas of Canterbury College.
