Term 1 Update

Kia Ora to all our new students and welcome back to our existing students!

Our year has begun and for the Hauoratanga and Haerenga classes they have already completed and ascent of a mountain peak. Year 11 connected and climbed Rapaki, while our Year 12 cohort scaled the impressive Mt Herbert. While connecting with teachers and students was a key task, they were also to spend some time alone at the top, reflecting on 2020. In order to move forward we must let go of things that hold us back.

This year our Junior Kiniesiology classes, led by Chris Leader, will unpack what it takes to make strong and lasting friendships, how to self-regulate, conflict resolution and many more health related tasks.

For our Year 10 cohort, they have the Rite Journey Programme ahead of them! Now into its 9th year at this school, the Boys to Men programme is an excellent and well designed programme that teaches our young men through the transition of Boy to Man. Parents of Year 10 will be asked to join us for the ceremony known as ‘The Calling’ on the Port Hills, Wednesday the 17th of March. This is an event that will run from 6:45am through until 9am. Your Rite Journey teachers will be in touch in the form of a letter closer to the time!

For our senior boys, the PGD courses will guide them through many of the issues and topics relatable to them as young men in NZ society today. They have some great teachers who are passionate about growing good young men with a strong Moral compass and healthy lifestyle. Term 1’s topics include but are not limited to Identity and Culture, Trust and Connection, Turangawaewae, Time Management, Building our Brand.

Keep an eye out throughout the year for some great readings on parenting and growing happy, health young men. We will aim to have these on our website for you to read.

If you have any guest speakers or ideas you think may benefit our young men, please don’t hesitate to touch base with me
