Variety Concert 2019

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

You are invited to the annual STC & VMC Variety Concert to be held on Friday 20th September.

This year we are celebrating 30 years of this event, so please come along with your family and friends to experience some amazing acts from both of the schools. If you’re not sure what this event is, it is basically a night where the two school communities come together to give students the opportunity to get on stage and give anything a crack to entertain you. Acts such as dancing, singing, bands, or even just a little skit can be done.

This year we are introducing “Food Stalls of the World” to the event by having a variety of different food stalls available to celebrate the various cultures that we have within our schooling community.

We have the following Food Stalls confirmed, with the possibility of more stalls serving among other things:

  • Italian (Pizza)
  • Chinese (Dumplings)
  • French (Traditional French cakes)
  • Filipino (Desserts of Kutsinta and Puto)
  • South African (Biltong and sweet treats)
  • Classic Kiwi BBQ (Sausage Sizzle)
  • A Year 12 business group (Hot Chips)

So please come along and join us for dinner to try something new before the concert begins.

All proceeds of the Food Stalls will be donated to Mike King’s ‘I Am Hope’ foundation charity to raise funds for mental health care. The stalls will start serving food at 5:30pm and will run for an hour. There will then be additional snack foods that you will be able to buy during the event.

The Mike King ‘I Am Hope’ Foundation is such an important cause supporting our young people whilst they grow into young men and women. Mental health and suicide prevention is a major issue which is often swept under the rug, or is poorly addressed in NZ despite being at the forefront of our daily lives. So a great cause for us to all support.

Information for this event:

  • Food Stalls start at 5:30pm running for an hour
  • Acts start at 6:30pm through to around 8:30pm
  • $5 entry to get into the event. You will receive a ‘I Am Hope’ wrist band
  • Snack food available to buy during the event
  • CASH ONLY for entry and food stalls
