Leading Forward, Giving Back

A new Legacy Network profile series is shining a light on Old Boys who have built strong careers, stayed true to the values of St Thomas of Canterbury College, and are now giving back to the next generation.

There is something special about the way Old Boys return to St Thomas of Canterbury College. Even after years away, many still speak about the same foundations: faith, brotherhood, resilience, and service. Those values remain part of who they are, shaping the way they lead in their workplaces, support their families, and contribute to their communities.

This first Old Boys profile focuses on a fictional former student who left St Thomas more than a decade ago and went on to build a successful career in business leadership. While his professional journey has taken him into high-level management and strategic planning, he speaks most warmly about the influence of the College on his character. He credits his time at STC with teaching him discipline, loyalty, and the importance of stepping forward when others need support.

Today, he stays connected through the Legacy Network by speaking with senior students about career pathways, offering mentoring conversations to recent leavers, and supporting College initiatives that open doors for young men coming through. For him, giving back is not about recognition. It is about honouring the place that helped shape him and making sure current students can benefit from the same sense of belonging and encouragement.

His story reflects exactly what the Legacy Network is designed to celebrate: Old Boys who have gone on to do well in life, but who continue to look back to St Thomas with gratitude and a willingness to serve. The College story does not end at graduation. It grows stronger every time an Old Boy returns with time, wisdom, support, and pride in where he came from.
