As you may be aware, discussions about the long-term governance of St Thomas of Canterbury College have been taking place in recent years.
On Monday, our current proprietors, the Christian Brothers, made an announcement in Australia about their financial position that has prompted the resumption of earlier discussions.
The College is talking constructively with the Christian Brothers, the Ministry of Education, and the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch to that end.
As we look to the future, we are hopeful that an alternative proprietorship arrangement will build upon our 65-year legacy and ensure the continued strength of our College.
Importantly, the day-to-day operation of the College remains unchanged. Our school will continue to be governed, managed, and delivered to the high standards that our community expects.
Students, staff, and families can be assured that teaching, learning, pastoral care, and school programmes will continue as normal, both now and into the long-term future.
St Thomas of Canterbury College remains in a strong position, and our focus continues to be on providing an outstanding education that develops young men of character, faith, and purpose.
