St Thomas of Canterbury College
Graphics Teacher, Permanent, Full time from term 1, 2018
St Thomas of Canterbury College is a state integrated Catholic School for years 7 to 13 boys. The College was founded in 1961 by the Christian Brothers who remain the Proprietor. We have a roll of 625 students, including 25% Maori, 18% Pasifika, 5% Filipino and up to 25 international students.
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and collaborative teacher to motivate and engage boys in Graphics. An additional strength in Computing/Visual Art with Design and Photography would be an advantage but not essential. The successful applicant must have the ability to bring Graphics alive in the minds of our young men and to, in particular, engage with and raise the achievement of our Maori and Pasifika students. It is essential the applicant has empathy for educating adolescent males and can engage students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
We are committed to inclusion and equity of access to this curriculum, so go out of our way to ensure all our students are provided for regardless of income.
A passion for our values is a priority, as is a commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum for boys and a democratic holistic approach to relationship management with students and staff.
Applications must be submitted by email. Applications close at 12 noon, on MONDAY, 20 NOVEMBER 2017.
